Reimagining History Stories

Welcome to Sublime Sky Journal – You are Invited to Explore Our Musings from Flyway Country

You’ve arrived in a space dedicated to the exploration of meaning as it is created through language. Here, you will discover a collection of work by students who are engaged in the practices of rhetoric and writing as essential curricular components of the John Martinson Honors Program of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Our digital platform is made possible by the generous backing of the IRIS Center for Digital Humanities, enabling us to share our efforts online. Our university is located along the Mississippi Flyway, and we draw inspiration from the beauty to be found in pink-painted sunrises and elegant waterbirds. This blog is a celebration of student work. All text is the work of human hearts and minds. Both text and illustrations in the work titled “Club Q Redo” are human work. Some decorative images were created with AI in the spirit of play and exploration. Thank you for reading! Thank you for spending time with us!

I'm Miranda, a passionate lecturer in English composition, rhetoric, and literature. I work to make my class feel so good that you would never want to miss it. When you're with me, we'll talk. I will tell you stories. We'll read, discuss, and we might make some art. I hope we'll crack up, but we'll definitely at least giggle. Sometimes, the texts we encounter will cause us to wrestle our personal and societal demons, but we are strong enough to bear witness, brave enough to seek justice, and loving enough to help each other in the struggle to become more human.
