The media coverage presented of R. Buckminster Fuller and the Old Man River's City project was primarily local to East St. Louis. Fuller was a popular lecturer nationally and it is likely there were articles regarding the project throughout country. Many of the articles provided here were culled from our SIUE Archival collection and from individuals who were part of the project. Thus, some of the source information was unavailable concerning the origin and date of the articles. Most of the coverage starts off skeptical but optimistically positive. As time goes on, differences in opinions regarding the cost, funding, models, and government involvement become more apparent. Even Fuller's tone changes from initial articles that show his enthusiasm about the project being built within a few years after its conception, to the late 1970's when he says it will be built within a decade.
