SIAP/ETS Conference: Reimagining PK-16 Education—Using Student, Teacher and Community Voice to Expand Opportunity and Promote Success for All, Washington, DC
The Southern Initiative Algebra Project (SIAP) and collaborative partners held a two-day conference in Washington, DC at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC). One of the goals of this conference was to develop a logic model that represented the complex nature of the interactions of the SIAP PK-16 Model’s four components: 1) Professional Development for Educators; 2) Site/Community Development (Design Team Process); Higher Education Partnerships; and 4) Youth Initiatives. Another goal was to begin thinking of ways to assess the impact of these components on student achievement and attitudes. This conference included representatives from the Educational Testing Service (ETS), SIAP, SIAP Board, the Young Peoples’ Project (YPP), Virginia State University (VSU), Dillard, Xavier, the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), Lincoln University, and the greater SIAP community.
