Hey, my name is Jerrick King. I’m a computer science major with an interest in software, but I can work with hardware. I was born in Alton, Illinois and I’m 21 years old.
Interests
I love music, so much so that it’s my minor. I mostly listen to rap, RNB, soul, alternative, and jazz. My grandfather was a notable DJ in St. Louis so I guess his music genes transferred to me.
I am a martial artist. I have a black belt in taekwondo and I’ve dabbled in a bunch more combat sports over the last 7 years.
I play games often, but I’ll never call myself a gamer since I feel that has a negative connotation to it. But I like to play games with my friends and record somethings so I can look back on them in the future.
I like to write. As a kid, I was awful at reading and writing, but my parents put me through tumultuous hours of reading and writing when I was young so I’ve gotten pretty good at it.
More about me
I look very unapproachable and I have a really monotone voice but, I assure you I’m rather friendly. I’ve spent all of my life on the internet so I’m un-seemingly quite the nerd. I’m always open to having more friends so if you ever want to talk about something, I’m your guy.
My name is Sam and I am a full time Youth Services Librarian, seeking my integrated studies degree in Digital Humanities and Social Sciences, and English. I’m technically a junior, but I originally went to school at Saint Louis University, so I do feel a little out of the times when it comes to being back in the classroom.
I grew up in Wisconsin, and although I’ve been living here for almost eight years, due to the pandemic I still feel very new to the area. In my job as a librarian, I work mostly with teens, and greatly enjoy my work providing art programs both to the general community, and to the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center. I also am currently on the board for the South West Advocates for Youth Services, which is a group of local public librarians who work together to share youth resources for south west Illinois.

I love digital art, and I am constantly drawing and doodling on everything. I also enjoy reading and audio books (practically a requirement as a librarian), and I read a lot of fantasy. I’m trying to expand my reading horizon this year, though, and have already read one non-fiction, and have started another, both memoirs featuring women who grew up in religious ‘cults.’ Please feel free to ask about libraries and book recommendations!
In terms of the internet, and social media, I am a rather passive user. I rarely interact publicly on content, mostly on TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram. I do, however, use Discord regularly, and text with my friends and family. Sharing content is typically as interactive as I get with social media recently, and I try not to share anything too personal publicly, though I did post and stream my art for a long time.
My name is Aidan Keen, I am a junior here at SIUE, currently studying Mass Communications with a focus in media production. I’m originally from O’fallon, Illinois. So just a couple miles away from Edwardsville.
Music has always been a major factor in my life. I have been playing music since I was kid, starting on piano and eventually learning guitar and drums, along with a few other instruments. I currently play in a band with some friends I have kept up with from high school where I play guitar and perform vocals. We’ll regularly play a good amount of shows in the summer when everyone is in town from school. We’ve been playing together for about three years now, despite knowing each other for closer to ten years almost.
Myself, and two of my band members playing at our last show this past Summer. We played at the St Teresa Parish Picnic, playing for over 400 people during the peak of our set
I also consider myself an amateur film maker. I’m studying media production in the mass communications department because I have always been interested in film and the entertainment industry. I used to watch behind the scenes clips from the DVDs of movies I would watch immediately after watching a film because I wanted to know how a certain moment was shot or more about the actors in the film. I’ve spent a lot of time at SIUE learning about the behind the scenes aspects of filmmaking through hands on experience. Through that experience I have been able to produce some of my own short films along with working as a cinematographer on other projects produced by my peers. I’ve included in this post some of my most recent work!
Hello, I am Mitchell Jansen, and I am an intended computer science major, chess enthusiast, baseball connoisseur, self-proclaimed musician, and avid video game enjoyer. I moved to the Saint Louis area in the summer of 2024 to begin studying at SIUE after previously studying at the University of Washington in Seattle and briefly at SUNY Buffalo in New York. I guess you could say I’m pretty well-traveled! I spent most of my life growing up around the Seattle, Washington area and as such a lot of my entertainment and culture is derived from my experiences there. I do love Saint Louis though and I am eager to continue exploring what the city and the surrounding metro area have to offer. I’m particularly interested in the chess scene here, being a chess player myself, as the city I have heard is known as the “chess capital of the USA”, and I have participated in a handful of events at the Saint Louis Chess Club, which I hope to continue to do.

I hope to be able to make many new memories and experiencing new things during my time here, and I hope that I can gain some new knowledge that will help me in pursuing my goal of becoming a software engineer.
Hello, I am Caden French, an aspiring Mechatronics and Robotics Engineer. One of my favorite hobbies is to read. I am a big fantasy enjoyer and I love most things written by Brandon Sanderson.
The following is a picture of the best potatoes that I have ever had and have been desperately trying to recreate, but failing hard at!
Some quick fun facts about me:
I enjoy board games, word games, and trivia.
I am good at geography, but don’t ask me about the flags!
Hi! My name is Jaidyn, and I am a sophomore at SIUE. I am majoring in History with a double minor in Creative Writing & Digital Humanities and Social Sciences. My goal is to get my Ph.D. and do research eventually. I am a C.O.D.E. Scholar, which has impacted me tremendously as a student and opened up so many opportunities for me. I am most interested in African American History following Reconstruction. I also love seeing how all of the things I am doing in my different classes connect to each other.
Some of my favorite things to do outside of school are reading and writing, spending time with friends and family, and listening to music. I like to keep myself busy, so I do my best to stay involved on campus. I currently serve as the Vice President of Programming for my sorority. This means I have the privilege of working with our community service, philanthropy, and fundraising teams. When I am not doing any of these things you will more than likely find me with my friends watching bad reality T.V.

3) Snapchat, I use to keep up to date with my friends as another way of texting. For Instagram I use that to follow different places or local eatery places in Chicago and also to post things about my daily life as a 19-year-old college student. My LinkedIn social is used for connecting with students from SIUE and professional people who are in the same or similar field of work that I want to go into once I graduate. LinkedIn is also good for posting your accomplishments that you have gotten from school or work.
4) As far as information I want people to know about me is that I am sophomore in college with a study of Public Relations with a minor in sociology. I am from Chicago; IL and I came to SIUE because I was awarded a scholarship that takes care of my tuition and the environment that the school is located in. I’m far enough away from home but not too far which I like. I am a very friendly person and approachable person as well.
Hi everyone, my name is Maya. This is my first year at SIUE as a transfer student. My major is Mass Communications with a concentration in Advertising and Strategic Media (minor still undecided at the moment). Some of my hobbies/ things I enjoy include: reading, collecting vinyl records, watching/keeping up with shows and movies (my favorite reality show is Survivor), and doing outdoor activities with my family (we’re all also pretty competitive when it comes to Nintendo Switch games). I have a cat named Luna who is an eight year old Korat (she’s pretty bossy but we love her anyway). I’m very much a homebody so I love being at home, but I would also love to eventually travel to Canada (specifically Prince Edward Island) and maybe later in life, the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland.
