Final Project

St. Louis has long been  known for its  cultural crossroads, particularly when it comes to music. From blues and jazz to rock and hip-hop, the city has played a significant role in the development of American music.  I picked this specific  topic because I genuinely enjoy music and I didn’t necessarily have a specific background in the area or when it comes to the information of music venues in St. Louis. There are many different artists and venues that have helped shape St. Louis for its music history culturally and locally.

Many music  sites in the St. Louis area have typically made diverse pathways between different border and cultural dynamics and backgrounds. Things like segregation and more black music that are common to this day that have shaped the way black and other urban areas are represented.

Question

The main question that I am looking at is How have St. Louis’s music venues changed , and  are effected by, the city’s cultural and social changes  over time? More recently state of smaller, independent venues that are just as  important as the ones that are highly represented.

Main view

I’m going over this topic more geographically looking at things such as the culture looking at things like the physical space within the venue and who preformed at these said places and the community around them.

Technology

For this project I used technology like google maps to show the visual spaces of the venues and the area. Although it’s mostly beneficial for navigation you can also use this tool to create your own custom map for plotting data.

( google maps and local St. Louis music venues)

https://www.google.com/maps/search/music+venues+in+st+louis/@38.627003,-90.199402,12z
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Off+Broadway+Music+Venue/@38.5948935,-90.2205806,17z

These are very beneficial because it gives descriptions and visuals of each of the sites the two mentioned above were primary example. Each one of these will include some historical information and photos over time with google maps the street view can also be helpful especially when taking into consideration the neighborhood landmark view to notice the changes over time among the area.

Conclusion

Overall this project was more of an overview for different music venues within the area and more interesting how they have changed over time and how we can use technological tools to visual the changes and differences of different music venues over time.

Define digital humanities

After taking this course semester. Ive had a lot of time to fully understand digital humanities. To me digital humanities is the studyof how digital tools and technologies can be used for research as well as present different topics in humantities for example things like history and lierature some of these include use of digital archives and other mapping tools.

How did they make that.

                                                      St. Louis Regional Data Exchange

The St louis Data exchange also known as (RDX) is an open data portal designed to centralize and enhance access to public data across the St louis’ region. This was brought by the St louis Regional Data Alliance also known as (RDA) which began at the University of Missouri-St louis. RDX aims to serve as resources for community data. The main goal of the project was to give access to local data and break down information as well as give access to data that isn’t from local government and nonprofit websites. The intended audience is pretty much for anyone in any data related work specifically based in the St louis’ region. From things like academic research and journalism.

The RDX supports anyone who is working to improve lives and make changes in the St louis region using reliable and local data. When it comes to methods and technology data aggregation, which is when collecting data from multiple sources and putting it together into one set and mapping tools which use things like digital software that lets you see different data on a map rather than just seeing this information number or chart based. This project took about several months it started back in 2020.This project strengths include things like acc and transparency and benefits from multiple sources some of the weaknesses may include that the accuracy of the data may not be up to date and standard yet. This project adds value by giving us a further understanding of the St louis’ region and providing information on things like health and education. This fits with needs within the region and is useful when trying to gain knowledge in simple ways. In conclusion, the data it shares is pretty much of a high quality which is pretty useful for organization and efficiency. RDX centralizes over 400 data sets which is beneficial for users to keep up with things like trends and advocate for things that could benefit and reflect on the region.

AI Forcasting

The Chatgpt forasting game was farely accurate for the most a lot of my low number predications were for things that felt a bit more compex to me like configring a code and playing the happy birthday song. I did not expect the AI to be able to preform that task to the extent it was given.

Title. Hairbrush

Creator Lyda Newman

Date. 1925+

Format. Rubber wrapped a plastic like pole. Designs can vary like wood and plastic.

The hairbrush I brought in for my item is a little more then just a hairbrush in my sense. This is an item I use everyday and have used the same one for atleast a good two years now. I use this item to brush my hair which gives me the upmost confidence in my life and is one of my favorite features within myself and contribuites to a piece of my sense of self and idenity. The hairbrush has changed through time from older generations the hairbruh used to be carved from wood some are still overall wood designs but a lot of the more common models are rubber and plastic. This item is 99% used for grooming and styling it consits of bristle and ball points which are often the same shap in ball point form.
