Welcome to my project about Octavia Butler. In this project I will compare two of Octavia Butler's stand-alone novels, Kindred and Fledgling, and how she uses language and dialogue to inform the reader about her characters, in contrast to typical science fiction tropes of protracted action scenes and lengthy environmental descriptions to educate the reader about the character and their place in the world.
