In The Island of Dr. Moreau, through my close reading I was able to determine the only time doctor is used is when referring to Dr. Moreau. Which in my opinion, he is not much of a doctor. He is more like a creator, more like Frankenstein. But The Lancet actually follows ethical doctors through their studies and writes accounts of their experiences. Doctor is a very distinctive word, and shows the difference between the novel. Dr. Moreau is no doctor, he is simply a monster creating monsters. Where The Lancet is real ethical doctors that print their work in text for the world to read.
