People have called me Achjung Lama.

मेरो नाम (लाई) आच्युङ् भन्ने गरेको छ।

ŋi gjalsumɖo mi ʃinani 

If a man dies in our Gyalsumdo community,

हाम्रो ग्यालसुम्दोमा मान्छे मरेमा

dha ʃeʃuŋ lapanani

,if someone dies,

अब मर्यो भनेमा



ʃiloŋ me dhene lama phep ʃi kere

we should call the Lama.

मर्ने वित्तिकै लामा बोलाउनु पर्छ।

lama phep ʃi kere 

We should call the Lama.

लामालाई बोलाउनु पर्छ।

lamaki phowa kjap lapa kere

The Lama helps people cross to the heaven.

लामाले आत्मालाइ स्वर्ग तार्नु पर्छ।

phow= a worship to make the soul to take across to the heaven.

In order to make people reach there, we do it by calling people. 

आत्मा तार्नलाई लामा बोलाएर आत्मा तार्ने।

lama tʃhumpu tʃhumpu phep ʃi kere

We should call the great big Lama.

 ठूलो ठूलो लामालाई बोलाउनु पर्छ। 

tʃhumpu  menani lama aruŋ phowa kjap ʃke lama

If there is no big great Lama, we call the Lama of a moderate kind.

ठूलो लामा नभएमा ठिकै ठिकैको (आत्मालाई) स्वर्ग तार्न जान्ने 



ɦjonani tʃhumpu tʃhumpuki phowa ghjap gho re

Whenever possible, we should make people go to heaven with the help of big Lamas.

भएसम्म  ठूलो ठूलो (लामाले) स्वर्ग तार्ने काम गर्नु पर्छ।

dhene las ro tʏnke lapani

Having said that they should take out the corpse.

अनि लास निकाल्ने भनेर

las = Nep. 'corpse'

ɦjaŋ ʃjapko te tʃheraŋ te ko re

They should find an auspicious time to take the corpse out.

फेरि दिनको कुन दिन (लास निकाल्नलाई) दिन हेर्नु पर्छ।

tʃheraŋ= साइत, auspicious time

ʃa tʃheraŋ ɖhik miɖhik tepa

They should look for whether the auspicious day arrives or not.

बार,  दिन मिल्छ (कि) मिल्दैन हेर्नु पर्यो।



tʃheraŋ  ɖhik nani roko tʏn ʃa

If the time is auspicious, they should take out the corpse.

बार (साइत) मिलेमा लास निकाल्नु पर्यो।

ʃakma ʃum dhene ʃak sum nedilə ghewa taŋ ko re

After the third day of the funeral, they should perform Arnung.

(मरेको) तीन दिन भए पछि तीन दिन भयो  (स्याक्सुङ्) भनेर अर्नुङ् (पुजा) गर्नु पर्यो।

ʃjakʃum=the time after three days;ghewa taŋ gho= a ritual



ʃakpa ʃum tani ʃak ʃum ʃak ʃum ɖhœʃi 

Saying that the corpse may recall his life on the fourth day,

तीन दिन भनेर चौथो दिनमा याद आउने दिन (चौथो दिनमा याद आउने हुनाले)

People believe that the dead body may recall his experience after three days.

भनेर अर्कुङ् (पुजा) गर्नु पर्छ।

 अर्कुङ् (पुजा) गर्नु पर्छ।

ɦoni dhene dʏndzi tʏntse lapatilə tʏntse taŋpu ɲipa ŋetela

Saying one week after another, and saying weeks and weeks, 

अनि त्यसपछि हप्ता हप्ता भनेर पहिलो दोश्रो भनेर

sumpa ʃipa ŋapa netelə khewa tʃhœba ʃak tʃhe ko re

Saying, third, fourth and fifth weeks, we should only do Arpan worship.

तेश्रो, चौथो, पाँचौ भनेर अर्पन पुजा त्यस्तो मात्रै गर्नु पर्छ।

ɦone ʃamla dhene ʃak ʃiptsu ʃerku lapa tila khewa tʃhumpu taŋ ko re

We should do another worship saying, on the forty ninth day.

त्यस पछि उनन्पचास दिन भनेर ठूलो अर्कुङ् (पुजा) गर्नु पर्छ।



ɦone sinna əruŋ əruŋ dhene tʏrin lapatila  

After it is finished, saying Dhuirin after this.

त्यो सिध्धिएर त्यस पछि पछि अनि धुइरिन भनेर

dʏrin= the time before a year is spent in which some ritual is performed.

ta lo khorʃoŋ lo ʈeppa tʃhaŋʃuŋ ləpti tʏrin lapatilə

When exactly one year passes, as one year passes,

एक वर्ष पुगेर ठ्याक्कै पुग्यो भनेर,एक वर्ष पुगेको भन्ने देखिएर,

taŋ dhene tana dhene njaɲen ʃaŋo

they worship. As we become polluted (religiously impure).

(पुजा) गर्छन्, अनि हामी जुठो (परेको बाट) उम्किन्छ।

dha ʃampala dhuŋal mɦepa da ʃempa kipa

Now keep your soul in calm and peace after bearing the suffering.

अब मनमा चिन्ता नलिएर अब मन आराम (खुसी राख्ने)।

dha ʃiʃuŋ lapatela aba ʃina ama ʃina ʃu ʃina

Saying someone dies, whether it is the father, mother or any other,

अब मर्यो भनेर बा मरे पनि आमा परे पनि जो मारे पनि

laptila lo khorti khor tani kipu ʃuŋ soŋ

after one year has passed and they have became happy.

एक वर्ष पुग्यो अनि खुसी भए।

khorti= going round something

dha tʏrin khorʃuŋ lapatila 

Saying one year has passed,

एक वर्ष पुग्यो भनेर 

dhuŋal kher moko lapa ta dhuŋal mewa ta dhuŋal ʃaŋʃuŋ honʈe tʃik lapa jœ

You should not worry, they say you should do it like this.

चिन्ता लिनु पर्दैन भनेर चिन्ता छैन, (काम) पुग्यो, यस्तो भनेर भन्ने गर्छन्।
