the <a href=\"https:\/\/iamfromproject.com\/\">I Am From Project<\/a> <\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">We are from corn fields and the cul-de-sac with the downed tree in\n        the center,\u00a0\nFamily sitting around the dinner table, dog hair, Kevin the grey cat,\u00a0\nFresh-cut grass and smoke from the fire next door,\u00a0\nStuffed animals, essential oils, paintings, fairy lights, and yelling,\nThe elf on the shelf in the living room and 24 hours of <em>A Christmas <\/em>\n        <em>Story<\/em> every Christmas Day,\nLoud people, loud music, loud dogs, loud cars,\nThe sound of a chainsaw,\u00a0\nThe smell of dumplings, home-cooked meals, Yankee candles,   \n        burning leaves,\nGarlic powder, cigar and cigarette smoke, baked goods,\u00a0\nPine trees, garlic, books, mud, and Folger\u2019s coffee,\nCars driving by on the highway behind us,\u00a0\nNeighbors smiling and waving as they pass,\nFresh (spicy) food, shootings, and the 12 around the neighborhood\n        constantly,\nCow manure, straw bales, and chickens clucking,\u00a0\nWreaths, small candles, loofahs, Lindt chocolate,\nWeed, fireworks, and people selling stuff in the streets in the \n         mornings: \u201cAGUACATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.\u201d\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\nWe are from cake, mac and cheese, green bean casserole, pork\n        sausage, and ramen,\nKolaches, beef stew, and soda bread,\nChocolate chip cookies, gooey butter cookies, oatmeal raisin \n       cookies\nDeer sausage, smokies, fresh baked rolls, soups and stews,\nPeanut butter blossoms, cherry pie, mints, and mashed potatoes,\u00a0\nOrange slices, Scotcheroos, and a bowl of M&amp;M\u2019s,\nLumpia, rainbow jello, nilaga, kare kare, siopao, arroz caldo, ube,\nHalo-halo and Mississippi pot roast,\nGrilled meats and Chef Boyardee pizza topped with sliced hot dogs,\nSmoked pulled pork, Italian venison, corn on the cob, and schnitzel,\nBandeja paisa, mondongo, sancocho, chocorramo, y arepa,\u00a0\nFrijoles, papa criolla, arroz con pollo, Colombian coffee, pastel de \n       pollo, y empanadas,\nPeach dumplings, fried corn, chuck roast,\nMixed gelatin, pozole, mole, and shrimp in garlic sauce.\n\nWe are from phrases like, \u201cNever too late,\u201d \u201cLove you,\u201d and \u201cThink \n       before you act.\u201d\n\u201cWhy can\u2019t you be more like your sisters?\u201d\n\u201cCome back later,\u201d \u201cC'est la vie,\u201d and \u201cHave Fun.\u201d\n\u201cTry new things,\u201d \u201cBe good,\u201d and \u201cThere\u2019s no place like home.\u201d\n\u201cTake it slow,\u201d <strong>\u201c<\/strong>Be nice to your brother,\u201d and \u201cI don\u2019t have favorites.\u201d\u00a0\n\u201cEven though you\u2019re upset, know that I still love you.\u201d\u00a0\n\u201cGive 110%\u201d and \u201cBe humble.\u201d\n\u201cMahal kita\u201d and \u201cLove you more than most.\u201d\n\u201cDon\u2019t be like your brother and sisters.\u201d\u00a0\n\u201cIf you don\u2019t have anything nice to say, don\u2019t say it at all.\u201d\n\u201cCojalo Cojaloooooo\u201d y \u201cEl que come callado come 2 veces.\u201d\u00a0\n\u201cOigan a este bobo hijueputa\u201d y \u201cEl golpe es el que avisa.\u201d\n\u201cA cow needs its tail for more than one fly season.\u201d\n\u201cKaaaaaaaa,\u201d \u201cTe haces pendeja o que,\u201d y \u201cCalmense.\u201d\n\u201cDo as I say, not as I do.\u201d\n\u201cDon\u2019t be afraid of failure\u201d and \u201cI\u2019ll Love you forever, forever and \n       always.\u201d\n\nWe are learning to take our time, go outside, recharge, and witness\n        personal growth,\u00a0\nTo take chances, not to focus on the little things and keep moving\n        forward.\nAnd we are learning that people are kind.\nWe believe that work ethic will take us ten times farther than talent \n       ever will,\nIt helps to have a speed bump between your mind and your mouth,\nMom is the unique person in the world that won\u2019t hurt you,\nAnd sometimes you have to do what's best for you:\nIt\u2019s ok to be selfish, even though it hurts at first.\nWe pick our friendships wisely because they make an impact on our\n        decisions.\nPeople change, and we aren\u2019t afraid to lose those that we used to be\n        close to,\nAs long as we stay kind and move towards healing.\u00a0\nIn the future, we look forward to careers that we are \n       passionate about,\u00a0\nAnd living life with people who care about us and love us for \n       ourselves,\nWe will be successful as long as we stay true to ourselves and help \n       other people.\nBut who knows?\nNo one will call us to put money in our pockets.\nWe don't hold on to too much of the past and we aren\u2019t afraid to \n       move forward.<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We Are From A collective poem by the Honors 120-FR9 class, Fall 2021 Inspired by \u201cWhere I\u2019m From\u201d by George Ella Lyon &amp;
