The\u00a0Cahokia\u00a0AR tour app is an app where you can\u00a0use\u00a0technology to emulate ancient\u00a0America\u00a0at\u00a0Cahokia\u00a0mounds. One thing the app does well is use 3d models to show what history looked like back then, as if you were there looking around yourself.\u00a0It also does well at giving out information about these structures so that you can learn as you explore ancient monuments.\u00a0It enhances access for an audience that suffers no visual\u00a0impairments\u00a0or no physical touch impairments\u00a0which\u00a0unfortunately\u00a0does\u00a0alienate\u00a0those that\u00a0cannot\u00a0see as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also requires the user to touch on certain icons so that they can get added information about\u00a0all\u00a0the different\u00a0artifacts\u00a0and\u00a0structures\u00a0shown on the tour. This\u00a0alienates\u00a0those that\u00a0cannot\u00a0physically reach out and touch the screen themselves. I think the app has somewhat of the right\u00a0idea,\u00a0but it seems\u00a0very clear\u00a0to me it was made without thinking about\u00a0accessibility\u00a0at all. It is a shame that is the case as the app is\u00a0clear\u00a0for those that want to expand their\u00a0knowledge,\u00a0and yet it restricts full access to those lacking certain senses.\u00a0The last thing I will cover is that they encourage users to have headphones when using the\u00a0app,\u00a0which once again shows that you may need to be able to hear to experience it fully.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
