{"id":834,"date":"2026-02-06T19:45:56","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T19:45:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iris.siue.edu\/hist582-exhibition-practicum\/?page_id=834"},"modified":"2026-02-06T19:45:56","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T19:45:56","slug":"tutorials","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/iris.siue.edu\/hist582-exhibition-practicum\/tutorials\/","title":{"rendered":"Tutorials"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Adding a Blog Post to WordPress<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Accessing the Dashboard<\/strong>:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After arriving at the Exhibition Practicum site, click on \u201cDashboard.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Adding a Post<\/strong>: When you\u2019ve made it to the dashboard, click on \u201cAdd New\u201d Under the \u201cPosts\u201d heading to the left of your screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Adding a Title<\/strong>: Type a title in the \u201cAdd Title\u201d Box that is informative and describes your topic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Adding a Block with Text or Media<\/strong>:\u00a0Click on the plus sign to choose what kind of content block you are adding. Common blocks include \u201cparagraph\u201d to add text, \u201cimage\u201dto add a picture, or \u201cquotation\u201d to add a block quote. There are several other block types you can add, but these three are the ones you\u2019ll likely need for your assignments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/iris.siue.edu\/yalit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2020\/05\/Screen-Shot-2020-05-26-at-2.22.49-PM.png?resize=676%2C353&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15658\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Adding your post\u2019s text<\/strong>: Add a paragraph block and then type your text. Note that a toolbar will pop up at the top of the screen giving you options for formatting the text.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Adding Image<\/strong>: Add an \u201cImage\u201d block. The site will give you the option to add an image from a URL, upload one from your computer, or choose one that has already been added to the media library.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Captions:<\/strong> Remember to caption each photograph and credit the photographer or site from which you obtained it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Add YouTube<\/strong>: When you add a block, under the \u201cembed menu,\u201d choose YouTube video. Add YouTube\u2019s share link to the box.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Block Quoting<\/strong>: If you have a line that is four lines or longer you should turn it into an indented block quote. To do so, after you introduce your quote, add a \u201cquote\u201d block.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Saving your Work<\/strong>: Click on \u201cSave Draft\u201d and then \u201cPreview\u201d in the widget in the upper-right hand corner to check your work (In \u201cImproved\u201d mode \u201csave\u201d and \u201cpreview\u201d are at the left of the editor).
