A twenty-year-old enslaved woman whom Edward Covy purchased from Mr. Thomas Lowe. She was forced to give birth to twins fathered by Samuel Harrison in order for Covey to increase the amount of enslaved people he owned. Douglass includes Caroline’s refusal to help Covey whip him in later versions of his autobiography.
