Jeff Broins, CEO of POET was awarded the Global Bioeconomy Leadership Award at the Advanced Bioeconomy Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. in April of 2019.

Following his acceptance of the award, Broins gave the 2019 Global Bioeconomy Leadership Address in which he highlighted the advances that his company POET is taking to create more sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels while reducing climate change.

POET has 28 facilities which reduce airborne toxins, provide American jobs, and allow the U.S. to cut back on the use of foreign fuels. Broins also highlighted the fact that POET is the world’s largest producer in biofuels.

The company’s newest endeavor is to create an 80-million-gallon-per-year ethanol plant following the Trump Administration’s decision to allow E-15 to be sold year-round.

This plant will be up and running in Indiana in 2020. Along with this award from ALBC, POET was also named one of the most innovative companies in 2019 regarding their new eco-friendly asphalt rejuvenator. Here, the idea is to make the roads as green as the cars that will be driving on them.

Broins believes that the potential for technological advancements in the biofuels industry is almost endless and that the best part about creating sustainable energy is that it is renewable.
